The story begins in 2005 when the architect who was then 27 years of age, Ted was born to want to marry after the attorney Marshall Eriksen Lily Aldrin and kindergarten teacher, his best friends from their days at Wesleyan College and Marshall, who was his roommate at the time, committed after nine years of dating each other. New search for Ted in life was to the dismay of his womanizing friend Barney Stinson.
